When I returned from a Beijing trip last year, I promised to share my experiences about the Asian culture. That opportunity couldn’t have come at a better time. In this article, I will be sharing my favorite Chinese food as well as other secrets of the Asian culture.

I suppose you already know that China is a one of the leading tourist destinations in Asia, thanks to her rich tourist destinations, long history, and delicious foods. Chinese foods are known due to their taste, aroma, color, appearance and meaning.

Without further ado, let me introduce you to my favorite Chinese dishes. Here, we look at three of my favorite Chinese dishes.

  1. Sweet and Sour pork

Initially, when I entered Siji Minfu, which is a high-end restaurant located off a side street to the northern end of Wangfujing Street in Beijing, I couldn’t find a familiar food on the menu but my hopes resuscitated when a waitress brought a menu that was written in English. I immediately noticed sweet and sour pork in the menu, which I ordered quickly. The new dish had a remarkable taste. In the days that followed, I kept this dish for dinner. Later, I learned that the delicious Chinese food was also a favorite for many other visitors.

As its name suggests, sweet and sour pork tastes sour but, in addition, it also tastes sweet. This dish is distinguishable from other foods by its bright orange-red color.

During my Beijing trip, I also learned that sweet and sour pork was undergoing modifications. Today, most people can substitute the pork in sweet and sour pork with beef, chicken or pork ribs.

  1. Chow Mein

Chow Mein is another favorite Chinese dish which I enjoy whenever I visit china. Chow Mein, also known as stir fried noodles, is a delicious dish consisting of noodles, beef, chicken, shrimp, onions, celery or pork.

At home, my husband cooks noodles in boiling water before stir-frying them with ingredients such as onions, chicken, and celery. During our weekend vacations, we visit Chinese restaurants to grab this delicious Chinese dish.

  1. Spring Rolls

Before the end of my holiday in Beijing, I had collected recipes of my favorite Chinese dishes. At Siji minfu, which I had mentioned before, my contact assisted me with copies of spring roll recipes. Spring rolls, which I took for breakfast throughout the vacation, sustained me with healthy nutrients that enhanced my overall well being, thanks to its nourishing ingredients.

Depending on your likes, you can have either meat or vegetable spring rolls which can taste sweet or savory. Being a vegetarian, I love the vegetable spring rolls.

When making spring rolls, vegetables or meat materials are be wrapped in spring roll wrappers which are then fried. Frying gives the spring rolls a yellow golden color. Spring rolls are very common in Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shenzhen, Jiangxi, and Fujian.

When it comes to cooking Chinese food, it is your skill that matters. You will need to learn Chinese cooking by reading more recipes and cooking techniques. Techniques such as stir-frying, Sichuan hot pot and sesame chicken are essential for enjoying Chinese food. Begin by knowing your favorite Chinese food here.

Thailand is a wonderful country to visit. There are many reasons to tour this country ranging from amazing beaches to delicious flavors that will make you want to extend your stay. Some of the common herbs used to prepare it include lemon grass, galangal, chili pepper, tamarind and more. Tom Yang is the most preferred food because it is versatile and can be made with mushroom, fish, prawns, chicken as well as a mix of seafood.

Spicy Chicken Broth (Tom Yam Kai)

Spicy chicken broth or soup is rich in flavors that give it a sweet taste and fragrance. It features a clear chicken soup refined with lime, chili and fish sauce. The mixture is cooked with Thai spices such as shallot, lemon grass as well as galangal. These ingredients give spicy chicken broth a special and satisfying aroma that no one would wish to miss.

Grilled Pork with Turmeric (Moo Sa- Te)

It is prepared in a piping hot wok with many basil leaves, soy sauce, large fresh chili, green beans, little sugar and pork. Since crushed pork is oily, it blends well with the steamed white rice for a more satiating meal. For a better taste, it can be topped with a fried egg (kai dao)

Green Chicken (Gaeng Keow Wan Kai)

In most of the Thai dishes, chicken is common, especially when preparing curry as well as soup. Green Chicken tastes very pleasant and slightly spicy. This exclusive taste is derived from a blend of green curry, chili paste, sugar, salt, coconut milk and fish sauce. You can serve green chicken with steamed rice or Kanon Jeen.

Thai cuisines are not only mouth-watering, but also healthy. Most of these dishes are prepared using herbs such as pepper and garlic, which can prevent prevent a number of diseases, including high blood pressure, cancer, heart diseases and other benefits.
